Resistance to high temperature makes Creusabro® ideal for coke quenching cars

Coke quenching cars operate under extreme heat, transporting coke at around 1000°C to the quenching tower. Traditional alloy castings often fail due to deformation and cracking, causing costly downtime. At Chinese Coking Plants, the introduction of Creusabro® 4800 solved these challenges. Its exceptional heat resistance, superior toughness, and stable quality allow it to withstand severe thermal shocks and prevent sudden failures. The result? Service life extended, improving reliability and reducing operational risks.

A coke quenching car is a key piece of equipment in the coking process, transporting high-temperature coke at around 1000°C to the quenching tower for water cooling. Its liner plates need to be high-temperature resistant, wear-resistant, and deformation-resistant.

Previously, at Chinese Coking Plants, alloy castings were commonly used for this application. However, the problem was that castings were prone to deformation, cracking, and even breaking off into the coke. Our Chinese Creusabro® partner RUNMO STEEL promoted Creusabro® 4800 to replace the casting parts.


The results show that Creusabro® 4800 can withstand intense temperature fluctuations during repeated coke loading and quenching processes and always remain flat.


Creusabro® 4800, as rolled steel plates, features high strength and stable quality, so even if cracks occur at the edge of the steel plate due to intense cooling, the crack propagation speed is extremely slow. Unlike castings, which may suddenly break and fall off into the coke due to defects or insufficient toughness, this avoids the risk of shutdown and enhances equipment reliability.


Compared with castings, Creusabro® 4800 increased service life from 3–6 months to 8–12 months.
